Lastly dimes with the S mint mark were minted out of San Francisco. The mint mark, when present, can be found on the reverse side of the coin below the wreath.
Proof coins with no mint mark were minted each year except for 1916. These proof coins will sell for more money.
Design
Charles E. Barber designed these coins. His initial B can be found on the truncation of Liberty's neck.
The design on the obverse side of the coin features a portrait of Lady Liberty. She is wearing a cap, a laurel wreath, and a ribbon with the word "LIBERTY" inscribed on it. The reverse side of the coin features a wreath that contains maple leaves, oak leaves, corn, and wheat.
Value
Any Barber dime is worth at least its weight in silver. The silver melt value for each coin is $2.28. This melt value is calculated from the current silver spot price of $31.50 per ounce.
Most Barber dimes in circulated condition will sell for a premium above their melt value. Proof coins will sell for higher prices.
