Design
On the reverse side of the coin the design shows a frontiersman on mountain terrain at the Cumberland Gap. This frontiersman is looking out West, which is symbolic because many early pioneers once used the Cumberland Gap to migrate to western states.
Cumberland Gap National Historical Park is located at the border of Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. This park encompasses 20,508 acres and it receives over 700,000 annual visitors.

The US minted different series of the Cumberland Gap quarter. There is the 2016 P quarter, 2016 D quarter, 2016 S quarter, 2016 S proof quarter and 2016 S silver proof quarter.
