Design

On the reverse side of the coin the design shows a man kayaking near the sea caves at Devils Island. This island is part of the Apostle Islands.

Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is located in Wisconsin on Lake Superior. The Apostle Islands are comprised of 21 islands.

These coins are part of the America the Beautiful quarters program.

The US minted different series of the Apostle Islands quarter. There is the 2018 P quarter, 2018 D quarter, 2018 S quarter, 2018 S proof quarter and 2018 S silver proof quarter.

Proof coins are essentially coins that have more detail. They are minted on special planchets and it takes longer to produce them. They are specifically made for collectors so you won't find any in your spare change.

Clad Quarters

The standard 2018 Apostle Islands clad quarters in circulated condition are only worth their face value of $0.25. These coins only sell for a premium in the higher condition grades.

Both the 2018 P Apostle Islands quarter and 2018 D Apostle Islands quarter are each worth around $0.50 in about uncirculated condition. The value is around $0.75 in uncirculated condition with an MS 63 grade. Uncirculated coins with a grade of MS 65 can sell for around $1.

The 2018 S Apostle Islands quarter is worth around $2 in MS 63 uncirculated condition. The value is around $3 in MS 65 uncirculated condition.

The 2018 S proof Apostle Islands quarter is worth around $3 in PR 65 condition.

Silver Proof Quarter

This coin is worth at least its weight in silver. The silver melt value for this coin is $3.20 as of February 16, 2020. This melt value is calculated from the current silver spot price of $17.72 per ounce.

Grading System

About uncirculated- There is a slight trace of wear on the high points of the design. Half of the coin's mint luster is still intact.

MS 63 choice uncirculated- In the major focal areas there are some blemishes or contact marks. The coin's luster might not be as prominent.

MS 65 gem uncirculated- There is strong luster and eye appeal. A few light contact marks may be present but they are barely noticeable.

PR 65 proof- There are no flaws to this coin. A few blemishes may be present.
