Design
On the reverse side of the coin the design features the word "HOPE" in large letters across the coin. A portrait of Pauli Murray wearing large eyeglasses can be seen covering the first two letters of the word. The word hope is significant because Murray believed that societal advancement could be accomplished with hope. A line from one of her poems is inscribed on the right side of the word. The line is: "A SONG IN A WEARY THROAT".
Pauli Murray was an attorney, civil rights and women's rights activist, poet, and Episcopal priest. She is most known for being a prominent social justice advocate.

The US minted different series of the Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray quarter. There is the 2024 P quarter, 2024 D quarter, 2024 S quarter, 2024 S proof quarter and 2024 S silver proof quarter.
