Design
On the reverse side of the coin the design features Patsy Takemoto Mink holding a copy of the Title IX amendment. She is shown smiling while wearing a lei. The lei represents Hawaii- her home state and the state she represented in congress. The south wing of U.S. Capitol Building is shown in the background. The south wing is home to the House of Representatives and this is where Mink served for twelve terms in total.
Patsy Mink was a congresswomen most known for advancing women's rights. She co-authored the Title IX Amendment of the Higher Education Act. The Title IX amendment prohibits sex discrimination for any school or organization that receives federal funding.
